Take This Vitamin to Repel Mosquitoes All Summer Long
We all love summer, but we all detest the constant visits of mosquitoes. They do not just whine in the ear and cause extremely itchy bites, but they also spread diseases to more than 700 million people annually.
There are numerous mosquito repellents on the market, but these are often high in chemicals that might lead to various side-effects.
On the other hand, there is a vitamin that can help you repel them in a completely natural way, and keep them at bay all summer long. This vitamin is B1, or thiamin, mostly found in eggs, kale, oatmeal, yeast, asparagus, liver, brown rice.
This water-soluble vitamin boosts the immune system and reduces stress, and what’s important here, it can change the natural smell of our bodies, that attracts mosquitoes and insects.
Certain conditions, like anorexia, gastric bypass, chronic alcoholism, and Crohn’s disease, can lower the levels of this vitamin in the body.
To optimize these levels, you should increase the intake of foods rich in thiamin, or take 100mg of it daily. After only two weeks, you will no longer fight with these pesky creatures.
Treating mosquito bites
To treat the painful and itchy mosquito bites, you should rub apple cider vinegar at the site of the bite.
Moreover, you can put freshly cut garlic or a slice of a raw onion on the affected areas to prevent infections and relieve these symptoms. You can also soothe the itching and a possible infection by applying calamine lotion or over-the-counter hydrocortisone cream.
Furthermore, we suggest the recipe of a powerful natural mosquito repellent:
- ½ teaspoon Witch hazel
- 15 drops Lavender oil
- 15 drops Tea tree oil
- Boiled water
Fill an 8oz. spray bottle with boiled water up to the half, add the oils and the witch hazel, shake a bit, and use the repellent whenever needed.
